Christine Waddell of Townville, Pa., was recently elected to AgChoice Farm Credit’s Board of Directors. In addition to her new role as an AgChoice Director, Waddell and her husband, Rob, as well as their son, Josh, own and operate Apple Shamrock Dairy Farms in Crawford County.

“Christine brings many skills and unique talents to AgChoice’s Board of Directors,” said Allyn Lamb, President and CEO of AgChoice Farm Credit. “She has a thorough understanding of financial and business management and a strong passion to serve the agricultural industry. These attributes will be very valuable in serving customer-owners across AgChoice’s service territory.”

AgChoice is a customer-owned and customer-driven organization. Aside from two outside-appointed directors, all other board members are active customer-owners of AgChoice Farm Credit. Establishing policies and the strategic direction of the organization are key responsibilities of AgChoice’s Board of Directors. Members represent a broad spectrum of agricultural industries to best serve the needs of all AgChoice customer-owners.

“Through the years, our business has built a strong and positive relationship with AgChoice,” explained Waddell. “I am excited to be involved with an organization that is dedicated to agriculture and keeps its customers’ best interests at heart.”

Apple Shamrock Dairy Farms consists of 500 Holstein cows, 400 replacement heifers and 1,600 acres, growing primarily corn, alfalfa and soybeans. Waddell holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Clarion University that she has put to good use as the person in charge of the business’ fiscal records and daily bookkeeping. She is a 12-year leader of Dairy 4-H, actively promotes the dairy industry through her work with the Dairy Princess Program, serves on the Center for Dairy Excellence board and is a member of St. Hippolyte Catholic Church. Waddell and her husband have three children: Josh, a dairy farmer on the family farm, Joe, a mechanical engineer with Case New Holland, and Katie, a college student majoring in education.
